I’m surprised by the lack of the amount of horror releases this week. October, though, is almost among us!! Let’s get to it:

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON (2015)

In this hit superhero sequel, a global defense program invented by Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) leads to the creation of Ultron (James Spader, in a voice and motion-capture performance), a robotic menace bent on destroying humanity. Joined by new recruits Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), and Vision (Paul Bettany), can the Avengers foil Ultron’s sinister plan? CHRISTINE (1983)

She’s a 1958 Plymouth with jealousy and evil under her hood, but Arnie Cunningham (Keith Gordon) isn’t aware of his new ride’s demonic qualities when he buys her, lovingly restores her, and names her “Christine.” As the nerdish teen turns into a cocky braggart who scores with a popular girl (Alexandra Paul), Christine grows violently possessive of her new owner. Harry Dean Stanton, Roberts Blossom co-star in this John Carpenter shocker based on Stephen King’s best-seller. 110 min. CREEPER (2012)

Looking for some easy laughs, a clique of teenage girls makes the online acquaintance of a lonely and disturbed man, very quickly goad him into debasing himself on camera…and post the results for all to see. Their humiliated patsy thereafter vanishes, only to resurface a year later, off his antipsychotic meds…and looking to unfriend them permanently. LYLE (2014)

Leah (Gaby Hoffmann) and June (Ingrid Jungermann) are a happy couple with a young daughter, Lyle (Eleanor Hopkins), and another baby on the way. But when Lyle tragically dies shortly after the family moves into a Brooklyn brownstone, the pregnant Leah begins to fear that their new neighbors are part of a satanic cult that have set their sights on her unborn child. QUEEN CRAB (2015)

The bad news is that a meteor crash has awakened an ancient giant crab and she’s already begun wreaking havoc on the inhabitants of a small town. The worse news is that the big gal’s pregnant and must be stopped before she hatches her own legion of the clawed creatures. Michelle Miller, Kathryn Metz, Rich Lounello, A.J. DeLucia star in this exciting sci-fi tale that uses traditional stop-motion animation to bring the queen crab to life. 90 min. SAVAGE WEEKEND (1979)

Sex and violence collide in this early slasher flick concerning a group of couples whose plans for a peaceful trip to Upstate New York to watch a boat being constructed soon turn deadly. As the lovers are stalked by a demented psycho who hides his face underneath a ghoulish mask, they discover the true meaning of terror. Aaaaaaaaaah! Of course, the kid’s going to bring friends, and booze, and make a party of it. And of course, the party’s getting crashed…by an axe-wielding psychopath!
